Abstract

Introduction: One of the missions of university education is to develop in students the skills for scientific research. Objective: To characterize the research component of the medical career at Guantanamo in the 2015-2016 courses. Method: An educational research where theoretical and empirical methods were used. Diagnostic test was applied to students of 6th year prior informed consent. Results: research skills are poorly systematized by students from their mode of action; the investigative skills are not explicit from the curriculum in one discipline, where General Medicine does not play its leading role, guaranteeing a research culture in graduated, able to convert the epidemiological clinical method in tool. Conclusions: There are shortcomings in the domain of investigative skills, curriculum management with the improvement of the research component will be achieved, all of which is part of a research project lead author.
