Clinical and epidemiological characterization of hypertension in Venezuela

Abstract

A study is done to characterize clinical-epidemiological blood pressure (HBP), aspects of patients who came to the medical office and diagnostic Centers (CDI) Los Mangos inMaracaibo,Zulia State,Venezuelafrom March 2012 to February 2013. The universe is comprised of 38 354 inhabitants, the sample of 5 753 patients who will they note pressure readings of 140/90 mmHg or more, accounting for 15 %, meeting the criteria for inclusion and ethical same. The variables used were selected in correspondence to the scientific problem and system objectives outlined in the present investigation, it was predominantly female, the mixed race and age group 60 and older, most have more than a risk factor, the 67.02% only made hygienic-dietetic treatment and 10.85% had complications.
