Commitment to Open Science Statement
Revista Información Científica is committed to the principles of Open Science, redefining our editorial model to prioritize the agility, integrity, and social impact of the knowledge we publish.
Our pillars of commitment:
Unrestricted Access (Open Access): All published articles are Open Access under a Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 International license, ensuring that anyone, anywhere, can read, download, copy, distribute, and reuse the work without economic or technical barriers.
Acceptance of Preprints: The deposit of manuscripts in recognized preprint repositories (such as SciELO Preprint, arXiv, medRxiv, bioRxiv, among others) is acknowledged and accepted before the submission process to our journal. The publication of preprints allows for early discussion, discovery priority, and community feedback. The existence of a preprint will not negatively influence editorial evaluation. This should be reported in the submission of the proposal in Comments to the Editor.
Research Data Sharing (Open Data): Primary data, code, and essential materials for replicating published findings are required to be deposited in trusted open access repositories (such as Zenodo, SciELO Data, Figshare, or discipline-specific repositories). If they have not been deposited, authors can authorize RIC to do so on Zenodo. The FAIR principles are promoted: Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable. Published datasets will be assigned persistent identifiers (DOIs) to allow for proper citation.
Open Peer Review: In addition to double-blind peer review, an optional open peer review model is implemented, where authors and reviewers can disclose their identities. This results in a rich dialogue that fosters accountability, recognizes the invaluable work of reviewers, and allows for learning from the critical appraisal process that underpins scientific quality.
Active dissemination on social media and open platforms (Open Communication): RIC strategically uses social and academic networks (such as X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Academia.edu, Zenodo, E-LIS) to share our content, accessible abstracts, and key advances. This fosters dialogue with authors, readers, and the public at large, inviting comments, questions, and collaborations arising from our publications. Authors are also encouraged to publish their published article (postprint) on their Google Scholar, ORCID, Researchgate, Mendeley, LinkedIn, blog, or personal page.
This commitment to Open Science is not just a procedural change; it is a cultural transformation. We aspire to be a dynamic channel where knowledge flows freely, evaluation is constructive and visible, data supports progress, and dissemination reaches all stakeholders. We believe that only through openness and collaboration can we address the complex challenges of our time with maximum rigor, speed, and impact.
