Focus and Scope

Revista Información Científica (RIC) is a Diamond Open Access journal, the official scientific communication body of the Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Guantánamo and published by its Centro Provincial de Información de Ciencias Médicas, Cuba. It implements the continuous publication system for articles dedicated to Health Sciences with a One Health approach, in Spanish, English, and Portuguese. It is peer-reviewed and is aimed at all national and international researchers who wish to communicate their results, share, exchange, and manage this type of scientific information.

RIC complies with the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals of the ICMJE and with the certification established for scientific-technological serial publications, stated in the third section of the Article 20 of Resolution No. 59/2003 of the Ministerio de Ciencia Tecnología y Medio Ambiente (CITMA) of the Republic of Cuba.

RIC also promotes the application of international standards or established good practices, both for the preparation of manuscripts and for their publication, dictated by: International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), International System of Units (SI), ORCiD, WHO International Classification of Diseases, International Non-propietary Name (INN), ORCiD, CRediT Taxonomy and Descriptors in Health Sciences (DeCS).

RIC now adopts the UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science as the best way to democratize knowledge.

Mission

RIC is an effective communication tool in health sciences; its sole purpose is to position and visualize articles of high scientific quality in the national and international context, which lead to stimulate academic discussion from the reflexive and critical cooperation of research with social relevance.

To be a benchmark for international impact and positioning of scientific research in the areas of medical care, teaching and technological development in health sciences, with high quality standards and methodological rigor.
