Abstract

An educational intervention study was carried out with the objective of raising the knowledge about epidermofitosis in male adolescents, belonging to a doctor's office of the University Policlinico "4 de Abril" in the period January-December 2012. The universe is constituted by 60 adolescents. The participants in the study are applied a survey that allows to identify the knowledge, they had on the subject before and after the intervention related to symptoms and signs, mode of transmission, complications, risk factors and prevention measures. The information collected is shown through double entry contingency tables using the percentage as a summary measure. The McNemar test is used as a form of comparison and validation of results, with an allowable error of 5% considered as significant when p ≤ 0.05. There is a marked lack of awareness among adolescents about the subject before the intervention, with a positive change in knowledge in all subjects evaluated after the educational program.
