Abstract

An intervention study was carried out in 50 females, with the objective of applying an educational strategy in women with risk of congenital malformations that affect the birth of children with this health problem in the municipality Yateras from 2008 to 2012. The universe of study consists of 50 patients. Different variables were studied such as: women's age, level of schooling, risk factors, more frequent congenital malformations, relation of congenital malformations with infant mortality, and level of knowledge about congenital malformations. It develops a program of educational activities, workshops and conferences on the subject, being evaluated at the beginning and the end through surveys. After the educational intervention, the women reached important knowledge on the topics discussed.
