Abstract

An educational intervention is carried out with the objective of increasing the level of knowledge about some aspects related to contraceptive methods in adolescents of the urban outpatient clinic Francisco Zambrano, Puerto Ayacucho, Amazonas, Venezuela, during 2012. The universe is constituted by 102 adolescents dispensed, and the sample was randomly selected 51. The variables were studied: age, sex, sources of information on contraception, level of knowledge about the age of onset of contraceptive use, type of contraceptives and purposes of use, evaluated the last three before and after the intervention. Before the intervention, the adolescents had inadequate level of knowledge about the mentioned aspects and already, after the intervention, the level of knowledge was adequate in the majority of the adolescents, reason why it was considered of good impact.
