Abstract

This study presents the reasons for the development of Primary Health Care (PHC) as a solution to the contemporary medical paradigm. The serious problems presented by humanity can only be solved from an integral view of the processes and from the complexity that implies a paradigm shift. The analysis of documents is used, when doing the study of the subjects treated in international, national and personal investigations on the APS. Current trends in conventional health systems are: disproportionate targeting of specialized tertiary care often referred to as hospital-centeredness, service fragmentation, as a result of the multiplication of programs and projects and widespread commodification of care to unregulated health systems. It analyzes the wear and tear of the biological approach and the importance of PHC as a solution to the serious health problems of societies.
