Efficacy of homeopathic treatment in adolescents with bronchial asthma

Abstract

A longitudinal, prospective, interventional and comparative study with a third blind observer was carried out on the total of asthmatic adolescents, 210 patients, attended in the Consultation of Bronchial Asthma of Asdrúbal López Vázquez Community Teaching Polyclinic, Guantanamo municipality; In the period of January-December 2011, using homeopathic remedies chosen according to repertorized symptoms. In order to evaluate their efficacy, the variables were used: age, sex, adverse reactions, clinical evolution, and patient satisfaction. The data were obtained through surveys of physicians, paramedics, patients and of individual and family histories. For the processing of data were used: microcomputer Pentium IV and systems of processing and analysis. Frequency distribution tables were used. The homeopathic treatment was more effective, compared to the conventional treatment, mainly due to the lower number of adverse reactions caused, as well as a higher level of satisfaction reflected in the patients of this subgroup.
