Abstract

A study was carried out to determine the clinical-epidemiological behavior and treatment of patients with maxillofacial soft tissue lesions who came to the General Teaching Hospital "Dr. Agostinho Neto "from Guantanamo in the from November 2010 to August 2011 referred from the emergency services of Primary Health Care. The universe of study is constituted by 913 patients, in which were found 1 615 lesions of the soft facial tissues. Variables were studied, such as: age, sex, cause of trauma, relation to ingestion of alcoholic beverages and relation with time of year and days of the week. The results show that the soft tissue lesions that predominate are lacerations and contusions, predominantly male. Physical violence is the fundamental cause of the production of such injuries, most frequently in the months of July and August and at weekends.
