Introduction: the psychophysical health of university professors is a key component of occupational health and educational quality assurance, particularly in demanding fields such as Medicine.
Objective: to analyze the psychophysical health status of professors in the Medicine program at a private university in Buenos Aires, Argentina, during the period of August–October 2025.
Method: a descriptive, cross-sectional, and quantitative study was conducted. The sample consisted of 103 professors in the Medicine program who completed the Medical Outcomes Study Short Form-12 (MOS-12) questionnaire to assess health-related quality of life. Data analysis included descriptive and inferential statistics, using Infostat software.
Results: the highest-rated health domains were Physical Functioning, Bodily Pain, and the Physical Summary Component, while General Health received the lowest scores. Better psychophysical health was observed in older and more senior teachers, those with children, and those dedicated exclusively to teaching, compared to those who combined teaching and clinical duties. These differences were statistically significant in some domains of the instrument.
Conclusions: the results demonstrate the presence of inequalities in psychophysical health status according to sociodemographic and occupational characteristics. The need to implement institutional strategies aimed at promoting and providing comprehensive care for teachers' health is highlighted, contributing to workplace well-being and the quality of medical training.
