Growing threat of pancreatic cancer: reflections from the evidence

Abstract

The lethality of pancreatic cancer is largely a preventable consequence of its diagnosis at advanced stages. The vague symptoms and lack of viable screening methods do not absolve us of the responsibility to maintain a high index of suspicion, especially in patients with risk factors. Understanding and recognizing its diverse clinical presentations is the first step in changing this grim outlook. The medical community is urged to prioritize continuing education on this disease, as early detection remains the only way to significantly influence patient survival.
