Abstract

Introduction: quality in healthcare services is fundamental to ensuring safety, equity, and efficiency. It faces global challenges and contextual disparities. Bibliometric analysis allows for the systematization of existing knowledge and the identification of trends and research gaps.

Objective: to conduct a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of quality strategies in healthcare services, identifying trends, collaborative networks, and gaps, with a special focus on Latin America.

Method: a quantitative-descriptive study with a non-experimental longitudinal design based on bibliometrics was conducted, analyzing 1,164 documents indexed in Scopus (1995-2025) using VOSviewer (for co-citation networks) and Bibliometrix (for publication dynamics and impact). Inclusion criteria included: peer-reviewed documents in English and Spanish, full text available, direct focus on healthcare service quality strategies (clinical, administrative, or technological) and human population.

Results: an annual growth of 13.93% was observed, with a predominance of authors and institutions from the United States (324 documents). Central themes included gender equity, patient safety, and emerging technologies. Geographic gaps were evident (limited representation from Latin America and Africa), as well as a concentration of productivity among a small group of authors.

Conclusions: the field is dynamic but fragmented. More inclusive and collaborative research is needed to develop equitable and sustainable policies that address global and local healthcare quality needs.
