Abstract

Introduction: medical education must evolve because future physicians will encounter patients in healthcare settings different from those of today. The exponential expansion of knowledge requires physicians not only to remember but also to update their knowledge and select the correct information from a wealth of options.

Objective: to describe the use of Artificial Intelligence tools in Higher Medical Education.

Method: a review article was conducted between July and August 2025. Multidisciplinary and specialized bibliographic databases were consulted: PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, Web of Science, and SciELO. This was complemented by a search of gray sources, including institutional repositories of universities, websites of scientific societies, and medical accreditation bodies.

Development: the use of digital tools in Higher Medical Education has favored the development of the teaching-learning process, allowing for the overcoming of certain deficiencies in theoretical constructs and enabling students to retain information better.

Final considerations: this research has comprehensively analyzed the impact, modalities, current state, and future prospects of Artificial Intelligence in Higher Medical Education. The evidence examined demonstrates that Artificial Intelligence is not merely an auxiliary technological tool, but a catalyst for a profound and necessary educational paradigm shift.
