Abstract

A study of capacitating intervention is done to raise awareness of females attended in Neck Pathology consultation, Policlinic "Mártires de Jamaica", for the prevention of cervical cancer. The population is composed of 326 females without cancer. The was selected by simple random samples representing 180 females. Sociodemographic variables and knowledge are studied influencing the increase of this disease. The diagnosis is made and the educational program, obtaining as a result that the predominant age group was 35 to 59 years, affecting those with pre-university education, the first 15-20 years, sex unprotected, multiparity and lack of knowledge is constructed by risk factors, highlighting the virus infection Human Papillomavirus (HPV). After the intervention 100 % of the women knew the factors, causes and how to prevent cervical cancer.
