Abstract

A study was conducted to determine the clinical behavior, epidemiological and treatment of zygomatic fractures at the Maxillofacial Surgery General Teaching Hospital "Dr. Agostinho Neto"Guantanamo, during the period 2009 - 2011. The universe was constituted by 115 patients in that period. A comprehensive literature review on the subject with universal and national literature was performed. Primary data were obtained from medical records, a payroll survey prepared by the author and those offered by the Department of Health Statistics from the center. Predominance of young patients, male remains the leading cause of physical violence (quarrels). The most frequent postoperative complications were severe edema in its variant and the infraorbital nerve paresthesia.
