Abstract

A study of educational intervention was performed with the aim to modify knowledge about the human immunodeficiency virus and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome in women of childbearing age Polyclinic "April 4"Guantanamo, in the period from January to June 2015. The universe consisted of 542 women and the sample for 34 of them, chosen by simple random methods used questionnaire that allowed the observation of knowledge on the subject was applied: concept, modes of transmission, if a person can be infected by the virus and not have the disease, if it can be infected by the bite of a mosquito, live, eat, work, shaking hands with an infected person, risk groups, and measures to prevent infection. It was possible to modify the knowledge once the intervention applied with optimum results.
