Educational intervention to nurses on psychosocial support to adolescents in disaster situations

Abstract

In a group of nurses belonging to the Policlinic "Asdrúbal López Vázquez" in June 2015. The universe was represented by 192 nurses of which were shown 12 randomly selected - an intervention study (experimental pre kind) also they were agreed to participate in the study. Variables were selected: Knowledge about generalities of disaster, general characteristics of adolescence, and adolescent reactions to a disaster and psychosocial support to adolescents. The data were obtained from a survey conducted before and after the intervention. An educational program was applied to issues of interest through simple techniques to achieve the objectives. Most nurses before the educational strategy had inadequate knowledge of the variables. After the intervention, most acquired adequate knowledge regarding the selected variables.
