Behavior and need of prosthesis in children

Artificial dentures in Children play an important role, helping to restore masticatory function, aesthetics and preventing malocclusions. A retrospective, observational, descriptive and longitudinal study was conducted in order to determine the behavior of prosthetic needs children treated at the General Teaching Hospital "Dr. Agostinho Neto" in the period 2012-2014. The study group consisted of 40 children who were studied in full. As studied variables: Age, sex, cause of loss of teeth, dental arch affected arch, type of prosthesis used in the treatment. The predominant age group was 15-17 years and males. Damage to the upper dental arch was the most representative. The most common cause of tooth loss was injuries. The prostheses used for rehabilitation treatment were removable partial.
