Breastfeeding behavior and its relation to the occurrence of disfiguring oral habits in children with malocclusion

Abstract

A study was carried out in from September 2011 to September 2012, in order to determine the behavior of breastfeeding and its relation to the occurrence of disfiguring oral habits in children with malocclusion. In the study participated all children admitted to the Orthodontics service. Variables were used such as: disfiguring oral habits, breastfeeding, and this type of malocclusion. The primary data were obtained from individual medical records that are transferred to a voiding record for processing and analysis. The results are reported in descriptive statistical indicators: absolute numbers and percentages. In the analysis of the results were obtained the following patients with little or no breastfeeding, tongue thrust habit and Class I malocclusion Angle.
