Digital Preservation Policy
All manuscripts are submitted through the automated editorial management system, Open Journal Systems (OJS v. 3.3.0-18), which guarantees an electronic and auditable record of interactions between the journal and authors.
RIC's digital files (PDF, EPUB, XML) are hosted on the servers of the Centro Nacional de Información de Ciencias Médicas (Infomed). However, the Revista Información Científica (RIC) Editorial Board has decided, starting in 2022 (Vol. 101), to preserve published research by depositing it in Zenodo, a universal repository that guarantees the storage and dissemination of research under open access standards.
Furthermore, the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) provides free preservation services for any OJS journal that meets basic criteria. For digital preservation purposes, RIC articles are archived using LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), an open-source program developed by the Stanford University Library that allows libraries to preserve selected web journals by regularly searching registered journals to collect newly published content and archive it.
Additionally, local saves are created and stored on external hard drives, where the content is regularly checked to preserve its integrity, security, and durability. The content will be transformed into new formats when deemed necessary.
