Effectiveness and safety of the early use of Surfacen ® in preterms new-born with syndrome of respiratory difficulty

Abstract

A study is done in the service of Neonatology at the General Hospital of Guantánamo with the target to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of the early beginning of the use of the Surfacen ® in new-born preterms from October, 2010 to August, 2011. 81 newborn babies are evaluated, of these 9 of them were  integrated  with the inclusion criteria. The studied variables are: need for long ventilation, entire ventilation time, complications of the ventilation, demurrage in the intensive care unit and adverse events. It was  found that 66.6 % of them were  ventilated less than 7 days. The demurrage in Intensive care unit was like an average in  14 days. The happened adverse events have not  causality relation with the product in investigation and only in one of the cases was drove to the death.
