Abstract

A study was carried out to determine the behavior of hypertension in patients older than 15 years, from the popular clinic La Honda, Escuque municipality, Trujillo State, Venezuela, from January 2012 to January 2013. The universe is constituted by 140 hypertensive patients. The variables were studied: age, sex, occupation and risk factors. The highest number of hypertensive patients was in the age groups of 65-69 years and 50-54 years, and female. The predominant occupation was housewife and the main risk factors associated were sedentary lifestyle and family history of hypertension.
