Abstract

A study was carried out in the University Polyclinic "Mártires del 4 de Agosto", Guantánamo municipality, during the period May-June 2012, in order to determine the knowledge of family doctors regarding cholera management. The universe is made up of 58 attending physicians. The following variables are analyzed: sex, scientific grade, years of graduation, previous experience in cholera management, clinical picture identification, diagnostic criteria, behavior to be followed against a suspected cholera case, focus control actions as well as Measures of orientation to the population. The female sex and the group of age of 40 to 49 years with more than 5 years of work experience were selected. Most respondents know about the variables in our study. It is concluded that despite the existence of knowledge about the management of cholera by a large number of doctors, the training of the personnel should be continued.
