Effectiveness of acupuncture treatment in patients with gastroduodenal ulcer

Abstract

A prospective longitudinal experimental study was conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of acupuncture treatment in patients with gastroduodenal ulcer at South Polyclinic during February 2011 - 2012. The universe is 30 patients, who constituted the sample, according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Variables were used such as: sex, age group, clinical evaluation before, during, and at the end of treatment, according to toxic habits, evaluation at the end of conventional and acupuncture treatment taking into account stable, improved, cured and worsened criteria. The information was obtained from bibliographic reviews, clinical histories, obtaining a predominance of males and the age group of 45-54 years. During the treatment, the criterion of improvement prevailed, at the end of which there was a greater percentage of patients cured taking into account toxic habits, and at the end of the acupuncture treatment with respect to the conventional one.
