Cervical cancer. Level of knowledge in women of the University Policlinico "Emilio Daudinot Bueno" of Guantánamo

Abstract

A study was carried out in the "Emilio Daudinot Bueno" University Polyclinic in women from the Basic Working Group No. 1 that the cytology test was not performed in 2011 with the aim of identifying some sociodemographic variables and level of knowledge about Cervical cancer. The universe consists of a total of 950 women from this basic group, from which a sample of 285 (30%) is chosen. It was found that the most frequent age group was 35-39 years, predominantly women workers with pre-university education. The first intercourse between 15-20 years, the first birth occurred in over 20 years. Among the risk factors most associated with cancer were untreated benign entities. 52.6% do not know the importance of speculum examination. It was evident the insufficient knowledge of the risk factors, the results of the work allowed conclusions to be drawn.
