Abstract

A study was carried out with the purpose of knowing the behavior of the most frequent dermatological problems in the Polyclinic of Pediatric Specialties of Guantánamo during 2011. The universe is constituted by 1 121 patients. The variables were studied: sex, age groups, infectious and non-infectious dermatoses. Male prevailed and the group aged 5 to 9 years. Infectious dermatoses prevailed in relation to non-infectious diseases, in which are presented the contagious molluscum, verruca vulgaris, the non-infectious ones, contact dermatitis, pityriasis Alba, and prurigo that were the most common among those of infectious origin. The importance of this research lies in its relevance and practical relevance, since it is a key instrument in the design of health policies and there are no previous studies.
