Behavior of euthyroid goitre in the University Polyclinic "Ramón López Peña" of the municipality of Caimanera, in Guantánamo

Abstract

The behavior of euthyroid goiter morbidity in the "Ramón López Peña" Polyclinic University of Caimanera municipality, Guantanamo province, is analyzed during the years 2009 and 2012. A universe of 35 patients is studied. It is a descriptive investigation obtaining the information of the medical records in the medical offices. The following variables were analyzed: age, sex, type of goiter, complementary examinations and morbidity. Of the studied patients, there was a greater percentage in those who had an age between 19 and 29 years, more in women and the adult population with euthyroid goiter. There is a high morbidity of simple goitre, obtaining the normal results of the thyroid hormones to which it was done. Ultrasound reported the thyroid characteristics. Goiter is considered endemic in the study municipality.
