Abstract

A study is done in the library at the policlinic “4 de Abril” Guantanamo during the year 2012, with the objective of doing the historical review of the above mentioned institution of information. The beginnings are recalled the creation of the same one and the work carried out during this period. The following variables are analyzed: years of its foundation, potential users, given services, types of libraries, type of shelves, diversity of the funds and documents, user's category, achievements; as well as its functioning and structure of the same one; up to the present. The classic documentary analysis and the bibliographical review are the used methods and the source of seeking information, through interviews applied to workpeople of the information and founders- users of the unit of Medical care that contributed to histories and anecdotes.
