Abstract

A study was carried out to determine the histological behavior of skin cancer at the General Teaching Hospital "Dr. Agostinho Neto "of Guantanamo, during the triennium 2009-2011. 100% of the biopsies performed in the period are reviewed. The study universe consists of 754 patients with a diagnosis of skin cancer, with 764 lesions. In a second moment histological variables are evaluated. The study shows that the most frequent location is the face. Basal carcinoma had the highest incidence, and its solid variety. The free edges are present in the greatest number of cases. The data is processed with the Microsoft Word automated system. The results are presented in tables and graphs of frequency distribution, using the absolute number and percentage as the statistical method. The results are compared with revised bibliographies. Conclusions and recommendations are issued.
