Abstract

A study was carried out at the Urology Service of the General Teaching Hospital "Dr. Agostinho Neto "from Guantanamo province from January 1982 to September 2006, in patients with traumatic ureter injuries, in order to know the results of the treatment of these lesions. The universe consists of 47 patients treated at this stage by urethral lesions, 3 of them with bilateral lesions (50 total damaged ureteral lesions). In order to analyze their results, the type and level of the lesion are taken into account, the most frequent being the ligature, fistula and section, especially in the lower third of the ureter. The most commonly used surgical procedures are ureteral reimplantation and end-to-end anastomosis in relation to the level of the lesion; other procedures are used in relation to the functional status of the kidney. It takes into account the evolution of the patient and correlates with the time elapsed from the injury to the repair of the latter. Prognostic factors are analyzed that influence in the good evolution.
