Abstract

A descriptive study was carried out to determine the behavior of chronic kidney disease in children admitted to the Pediatric Hospital "Pedro Agustín Pérez" in the period 2005-2009. The following variables were studied: age, sex, etiology, stage of Disease, nutritional status, therapeutic use, and condition upon discharge. The information is collected through charts of emptying the medical records; with the following results: Predominance of obstructive nephropathy in the age group 11 to 17 years and male, most of them are nutritionally normal, prevention of progression and pharmacological treatment are the most used therapies since a large number of patients were In the initial stages of the disease, only those who received dialysis or hemodialysis die. The results are compared with revised bibliographies which allow conclusions to be drawn and recommendations made.
