Abstract

A study was carried out with the aim of characterizing the major outpatient surgery in the Diagnostic Medical Integral Center “Rafael Antonio Pérez Ruedas" in the municipality of Pampan, Venezuela from February to October 2011. It includes the 115 patients who underwent surgery in this area Period of time and that they gave their consent to participate in the study. The variables: age, sex, type of surgical intervention, anesthetic method, evolution, complications and hospital stay. 73.25% of the patients are surgically operated on an outpatient basis with a minimum of complications and a high degree of acceptance on the part of the patients, demonstrating the psychosocial well-being that this method and its advantages represent for the patient and his family members.
