Abstract

A brief historical overview of the development of the Otorhinolaryngology specialty in the province of Guantanamo, from its beginnings in the General Teaching Hospital "Dr. Agostinho Neto" in the period 1981-2012, with the objective of evaluating achievements and difficulties, as well as to undertake new challenges of the future.These aspects are medical assistance, teaching, overcoming and research.A analysis of each of these aspects is carried out at the different stages, 1985-1995 was considered as the considerations made in this analysis are very useful, making the count of the way already transited by a generation to the new generations, to reflect together On current and future difficulties, and work with the strengths of the service to address the new challenges facing the specialty .
