Surgical results of conjunctival autograft with limbic cells in patients with pterygium

Abstract

The results of the surgical technique of autograft of conjunctiva with the limbic cells in the treatment of primary pterygium in 235 patients of the province of Guantanamo, during the period of January to December of 2011, presenting the predominant age group is 31 to 45 years old, the male sex being the most found with 57%. The number of recurrences as postoperative complications is only 10 patients (4.2%). The level of patient satisfaction is optimal in 82% of cases. It is concluded that the free auto transplantation of conjunctiva with the limbic cells is a very useful technique in the treatment of pterygium in the patients, decreasing with this technique future complications.
