Abstract

A cross-sectional descriptive study on the prevalence of dental trauma among students from the Southern Area of Guantánamo, from September 2009 to May 2010, is made up of all students enrolled in seventh grade. Primary data are obtained from the clinical examination of the patients, which are transcribed to an emptying sheet. With the information collected a database is created and processed using the statistical package Epinfo 6. There is a predominance of males and 13 years of age. The prevalence of dental trauma is high, the majority present in males. The type of fracture that predominates is the uncomplicated crown, the main cause: falls. Most students who have trauma do not attend specialized treatment.
