Abstract

Neoplasms are an important cause of mortality and morbidity in the children of Baracoa. A study was carried out in the periods 1984-1990, 1991-2000, 2001-2011 to study the incidence of this entity in the child population of the Baracoa municipality. The variables are analyzed: age, sex, cause of mortality / morbidity, place of residence (rural or urban). The most frequent tumors in this population were those of the hemolymphopoietic system, although the most lethal tumors were located in the central nervous system. There is a tendency to decrease mortality due to malignant diseases in pediatrics.
