Abstract

A study was conducted from January to September 2010, to determine the behavior of pregnant adolescents in the municipality of Sayaxché, Guatemala. The universe of study is made up of 543 adolescents and the sample of 347, intentionally selected. Clinical histories and the birth book of the hospital are the main sources of information, methods are used at the theoretical, empirical and statistical levels are processed in an automated way. Variables such as: age, nutritional status, marital status, occupation, ethnic group and schooling are used. The results are represented in tables, which makes it possible to make judgments as conclusions. Pregnant women between 17 and 19 years of age, normo weight, stable union, indigenous ethnic group, residents of rural areas, those who had 1 to 6 years of schooling, housewives without prenatal care predominate. Recommendations were made.
