This obituary pays tribute to Dr. Ángel Piriz Momblant, a surgeon, professor, and researcher who passed away on September 10, 2026. Born in Guantánamo, he knew from a young age that he wanted to be a doctor and achieved it through effort, perseverance, and silence. As a person, he was a loving son, a devoted husband and father, a loyal friend, and an upright colleague. As a doctor, he combined technical mastery with deep humanity: he diagnosed with his hands, his listening, and his clinical gaze, and he made use of technology without losing tenderness. He was the founder of higher medical education in Guantánamo and trained generations with generosity and by example. His greatest recognition was the affection of his people.
