Introduction: guided endodontics is an innovative and effective therapy to treat obliterated dental canals, addressing the challenges related to this complicated clinical condition. It takes advantage of advanced technologies such as CBCT, CAD and CAM together with virtual planning to offer a precise and personalized solution in each case.
Objective: to describe the application of endodontic techniques such as guided endodontics in the treatment of teeth with obliterated canals.
Method: a bibliographic review was carried out in the Elsevier (ScienceDirect) and Library and Journal of Endodontics databases. Selection criteria were used.
Results: by providing detailed visualization of dental anatomy, CT plays a critical role in allowing more accurate identification of obliterated root canals and more effective treatment planning. Furthermore, by combining virtual planning with the manufacturing of 3D printed guides, precise navigation is achieved during the clinical procedure, which in turn improves the precision and effectiveness of endodontic treatment. Guided endodontics consistently demonstrates success in various clinical cases, with many publications reporting 100% success rates. The usefulness of this technique in clinical practice is supported by its high success rate, providing consistent and predictable results in the management of obliterated dental canals.
Conclusions: the combined use of advanced technologies and innovative clinical approaches improves the precision, effectiveness and safety of endodontic treatment, offering significant benefits for both patients and dental professionals.
