Abstract

A study is carried out with the objective of describing the behavior of the acute diarrheal illness (EDA) in children smaller than five years of Guantánamo during the year 2008. The universe was conformed by all the children of the municipality Guantánamo smaller than 5 years. The sources of information were the data filed in the statistic department of the Municipal Center of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology and the different areas of health. The variables are analized: sex, age, area of health, month of occurrence, level of educators' knowledge in date care center, hygienic-sanitary violations and sanitary quality of the water. There was prevalence of the group 1-5 years, masculine sex and the month October was presented with more incidence.
