Abstract

A study is carried out with the objective of determining the cancer incidence about the mortality in the mature population of the municipality Baracoa, from January first, 2001 to July first, 2010. The causes of 4 234 patients' deaths are analyzed taking into account variables: age, sex, type of cancer and place of residence. Significant increment of this pathology is observed in the last five years. The lung cancer continues being the most lethal neoplasia, although the most remarkable increment is observed among the associated tumor to the habit of smoking (that was not in lung). Increase is shown in both sexes, but with more female incidence.importnat differences don't exist among rural and urban areas.
