Aspects of the hepatic cirrhosis behaviour in the General Teaching Hospital “Dr. Agostinho Neto”

A study was done to explore the clinical and epidemiological behavior in patients treated with liver cirrhosis at the General Teaching Hospital "Dr. Agostinho Neto” Guantanamo since January 2005 to December 2009. The universe is made up of 52 patients who assisted at the Gastroenterology, Surgery, Internal Medicine and Intensive medicine Care services. The variables studied are:sex:, age, etiologic factors, clinical manifestations, functional status of the disease, additional examinations and direct cause of death. Predominant age groups 50-59 years and sex male. 44.2% of the patients were alcoholic. Hepatomegaly, ascites and icterus were the most frequent signs. The direct cause of death was hepatic encephalopathy.Downloads
