Abstract

A transversal and descriptive study was carried out to determine the level of knowledge about the management of patients with HIV / AIDS in Stomatology by the technical and professional staff of "Julio Antonio Mella" Stomatologic Clinic in Guantanamo Province. The universe was constituted by the stomatological personnel who showed willingness to fill out the questionnaire. Knowledge about the management of patients with HIV/AIDS, time in front of a patient with this disease, treatment of contaminated instruments, antibiotic prophylaxis, measures in patients with xerostomia and glossosynthesis, behavior against recurrent ulcers of viral origin, oral manifestations of the disease were analyzed. Patient with this virus complications in patients with patients and general evaluation of the knowledge. An exhaustive bibliographical review on the subject was carried out in universal and national literatures. The primary data were obtained from a survey sheet prepared by the authors. It was shown that the minority possessed an average level of knowledge. Predominated insufficient knowledge in both technicians and professionals.
