Abstract

A literature review was performed in order to update on urethra cancer. Primary urethral cancer is a rare entity which represents about 0.02 % of all cancers found in women. Most of these are squamous cell line. Diagnosis is difficult because of the advanced stage in which usually appears. The prognosis of this disease is poor, and depends on the clinical stage of the tumor at the time of diagnosis. The stage of disease is the most important predictor of survival. Treatment depends on the sex, staging, histological type, extent and location of the lesion. The treatment is surgical excision, depending on its size and is complemented with radiotherapy or chemotherapy.
