Multiple myeloma and chronic renal failure

Abstract

 The presentation of a male patient of 64 years is performed with terminal chronic renal failure secondary to malignant hypertension in dialysis with multiple myeloma, assisted in the General Teaching Hospital “Agostinho Neto” Guantánamo, 2014. The patient came to referring intense pain in cervical region, decreased muscle strength and fever, deciding admission with a diagnosis of transverse myelitis of infectious etiology. CAT imaging studies reveal lytic lesions in cervical spine, raising possibility of multiple myeloma diagnosis reconsidering deciding bone marrow biopsy revealed increased plasma cell infiltration of 40% considered major criterion in the diagnosis of it. It is treated unfavorably evolving and died in less than a week. Morphological components are identified that characterize multiple myeloma.
