Myiasis in Stomatology. Case presentation

Abstract

Oral myiasis is a rare condition, reports on this illness are uncommon, and is described as factors associated with poor oral hygiene, low socioeconomic status, alcoholism and homelessness. A case of female patient aged 32 poor who came to the emergency department of the polyclinic "Omar Ranedo" whose had out worms from the mouth, physical examination presented shows that the patient has scar product and nasal labial closing a cleft lip with mouth breathing, the oral exam has root fragments, gingival inflammation, supra- and infragingival, widespread abundant plaque and the presence of fly larvae developing in space ,next gum papillary and marginal level right upper incisor, removal of larvae was performed using hemostats and saline, treatment is indicated with metronidazole 250 mg, 1 tab every 8 hours, it evolves at 72 hours where the remaining larvae were extracted, continued treatment was indicated with satisfactory evolution of the patient. A brief review of the case is done.
