Incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus in the municipality of Caimanera, Guantánamo

Abstract

This work is performed to investigate the incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus in the polyclinic “Ramon Lopez Peña” themunicipalityofCaimanera,Guantanamoprovince, from 2008 to 2013. Universes of 79 patients were studied. Information on the Department of Statistics and medical records in doctors' offices is obtained. Age and sex, body mass index family, medical history and incidence complication: The following variables were studied. Of the studied population were obtained females ages ranging between 25 and 59 years; the behavior of the body mass index was higher in overweight patients. There was more cases with family medical history and others that no complications of diabetes mellitus, there was an increase in the incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus in 2009.
