Abstract

The nursing profession has the internal good of providing professional care to the individual, family and community, working on the basis of the problems or situations found in their care practice, is their primary task. Due to the insufficient information that nurses present regarding aspects related to the current contextualization of nursing competencies in the vital care process, an exploratory study was carried out, with the objective of gathering information that provides current knowledge in which the Nursing competencies in the vital care process. It found an extensive bibliographic search in the main biomedical databases: MEDLINE; LILACS; SciELO, Cochrane Library and Bibliographic database Specialized in the Nursing Area of Brazil and in the Scientific Electronic Library online, among others. It was concluded that the nursing competencies were solidified using the Nursing Process, which made it possible to satisfy care needs in all areas of professional performance.
