Abstract

Introduction: diabetic foot is a health problem, however, in the Service of Angiology and Vascular Surgery of the General Teaching Hospital "Dr. Agostinho Neto" the characteristics of patients with this condition are unknown. Objective: to deepen the possible causes this research was conducted with the objective of characterizing patients diagnosed with diabetic foot treated in this service during 2016. Method: performed an observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study in the total number of patients treated with this disease (n = 205). Results: diabetic foot was more frequent in women, between 61 and 70 years of age, with type 2 diabetes and More than 16 years of evolution of the disease The neuroinfectious clinical form was more common and the percentage of amputated patients was higher, especially the minor amputations Two patients died. Conclusions: it was concluded that this condition was more frequent in women with age between 61 and 70 years, the neuroinfectious clinical form is the most common and there were minor amputations. A tooth with diabetic foot was low.
